Thank you for being a member of the Vermont Outdoor Business Alliance! The most powerful way we grow our business network is by members sharing why they believe in Vermont's outdoor economy and inviting others into the community.

This Member Sharing Toolkit is designed to make sharing VOBA's mission as easy as possible.

Why Your Voice Matters

The most powerful way we grow Vermont's outdoor business community is through members sharing why they believe in VOBA and inviting others into the network. Whether you're talking with a colleague, posting on social media, or making an introduction, these key messages can help.

VOBA Membership Key Messages

When talking about VOBA focus on these ideas:

  • Connect.

VOBA brings together businesses, nonprofits, government partners, and industry leaders to strengthen Vermont's outdoor economy.

  • Grow.

Members gain practical value through networking and learning, business development, research, workforce initiatives, and advocacy.

  • Lead.

Every member helps shape the future of Vermont's outdoor economy by strengthening our collective voice and expanding opportunities statewide.

Together, we're working toward 200 members to build a more resilient, connected outdoor economy.

How to Share Your VOBA Story

Make it personal. People respond more to people than to organizations. Include these three things to make your message clear:

  1. Why: "I support VOBA because … [insert a 1-sentence personal connection]."

  2. Who Should Join: If they benefit from Vermont's outdoor economy, they belong in the conversation including … Manufacturers, Retailers/Outfitters, Resorts/Outdoor Center, Trail Construction/Maintenance, Guide Services, Finance and Business Services, Education and Health Services, Lodging/Hospitality/Campgrounds, Marketing/Media/Sales/Events, Networks, Associations and Conservation Groups, Government, Policymakers and Regulators.

  3. Call to Action: Join me as part of VOBA through membership, donation, or attending an upcoming event.

Easy Ways to Invite Someone

  • Invite a friend in the industry to attend a VOBA event.

  • Share why your organization is a member.

  • Introduce someone to a VOBA staff or Board member.

  • Forward the membership page to a business that would benefit.

  • Ask, "Have you considered joining VOBA?"

Social Media Messaging

One of the most powerful ways to support VOBA is by sharing why membership matters to your business. Whether you're celebrating your membership, highlighting a program that helped you, or encouraging others to join, your voice helps strengthen Vermont's outdoor community.

Personalize the caption with your own story and share photos of experiences and connections. Authentic posts always perform best!

Take a look at this example post from Vermont Bike & Brew. The messaging highlighted VOBA's support during the hardships of the 2023 flood, making this post both personal and relatable to other Vermont businesses and organizations.

Don’t forget to tag us on social media so we can help share your posts!

Thank You for Supporting VOBA!

Every post, caption, and image you share helps highlight the people, places, and businesses that make Vermont’s outdoor economy so strong and connected.

When members speak in their own voice, it builds trust, creates visibility for the full network, and helps more people understand the real impact of this industry.

Sharing is not just promotion; it's a way to support one another, strengthen relationships, and grow opportunities across the state.

Thank you for helping us continue to grow and support our brave little state.
