With the increasing frequency and severity of climate-related hydrological events in Vermont, designing and maintaining trails with adequate drainage structures is key to the resiliency of trail networks and communities.

Register for a 2-day training designed for those entering or currently employed in trail jobs involving trail construction and/or maintenance in Vermont. Time in the classroom and the field will develop skills in reading the landscape to determine drainage patterns and learn best practices for creating or maintaining sustainable natural surface trails.

The training curriculum is anchored in the Professional TrailBuilders Association’s skills competencies and Vermont Mountain Bike Association (VMBA)’s Best Management Practices for Maintenance and Construction. Instruction will be provided by veteran professional trail builders from Sinuosity, L&D Trailworks, and Apex Trailworks.

TRAINING DATES:

  1. Southern Cohort: May 6th - 7th | Stratton Mountain Resort

  1. Northern Cohort: May 12th - 13th | Burke Mountain Resort & Kingdom Trail Association

  1. VMBA Cohort: May 19th - 20th | Sleepy Hollow Inn
